How did you get into the industry?
After seeing our own house landscaped and having grown up being out in the garden, I developed a passion for landscaping and knew this was the trade for me to pursue.
Would you recommend a trade/skill based career to others?
Yes, it is a great feeling to see the outcome of hard work you have produced yourself.
How has WorldSkills Australia helped you so far personally & professionally?
Personally the WSA experience has given me more confidence in my own work capabilities. My training has opened my mind in the field of landscaping. Professionally, I am now a well known apprentice landscaper.
Would you recommend others participate in the WorldSkills Competitions?
Yes, WSA gives an individual the opportunity to discover their full potential and build on trades skills and also experience the once in a lifetime opportunity to represent their country.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
Working outdoors is very enjoyable and I also enjoy the wide range of tasks and diversity in landscaping.
What do you hope to achieve in both short and long terms of your career?
In the short term I am aiming high for the International Competition, gold would be fantastic. In the long term I want to either step into a business or have my own business and become a highly sought after landscaper.
