Australia retains ranking of 5th

The WorldSkills Australia Skillaroos have retained the world ranking of 5th in the world! By doubling the number of medals awarded in the previous International Competition in Japan 2007, Australia has once again proven they are a highly-skilled nation.

Following last night's Closing Ceremony medal presentations, 12 Medallions of Excellence were awarded this morning to the following competitors:

Autobody Repair Aaron Samphier Medallion of Excellence
Industrial Control Benjamin Dean Medallion of Excellence
Electrical Installations Gavin Press Medallion of Excellence
Painting & Decorating Kyle French Medallion of Excellence
Ladies/Mens Hairdressing Megan Kuhn Medallion of Excellence
Graphic Design Technology Melissa Guiney Medallion of Excellence
Cabinetmaking Michael Welshman Medallion of Excellence
Joinery Mitchell Edwards Medallion of Excellence
Refrigeration Nash Mason Medallion of Excellence
Cooking Nenad Djuric Medallion of Excellence
Automobile Technology Perrin Bouna Medallion of Excellence
Floristry Stacey Pitman Medallion of Excellence

In the same ceremony, the inaugural Expert of the Year award was presented to Sue Collins, the Deputy Chief Expert for Beauty Therapy.
