With the smell of pancakes bubbling away, bricks being laid and the array of colour displayed on many a finger nail, the WorldSkills Australia Try' a Trade is certainly well underway, on site at the Mock International Competition.
Hundreds of school children attended the Mock Competition today and were provided the opportunity to emulate the trades and skills the Skillaroos are training and competing in Canada- through the WorldSkills Australia Try'a Trade program.
The school kids had the opportunity to try a myriad of trades on site such as cooking a pancake in Cookery, make earrings at Jewellery, a painting in Painting and Decorating, manipulating images at Graphic Arts and laying a brick at the Bricklaying Try' a Trade- just to name a few.
The Skillaroos worked hard today, some continuing projects, others commenced new projects. As the school children eagerly wandered around trying different skills and trades, this tested the Skillaroos determination to remain focused, not allowing the school kids enthusiasm to distract them. This is great preparation for the Skillaroos as distractions will be aplenty at the International Competition in Calgary.
